MIAMI HORROR DJ'S
Many might be a little baffled by who? Or what? Miami Horror actually are: a band? DJ? Production wizard? Well, the answer is actually all of the above. Miami Horror, originally the brainchild of 23-year-old Benjamin Plant and now a newly formed live band have earned their stance as one of the most talked-about Australian producers/artists and one to watch out for in 2010.
After putting himself on the map by DJ-ing various high profile international events in LA, NY, Mexico and Europe as well as remixing artists like The Presets and Pnau with Fred Falke, Benjamin joined forces with Josh Moriaty (vocals and guitar), Dan Whitechurch (bass, keys and sampler) and Aaron Shanahan (drums) to create both the live show and collaborate on his debut album.
Miami Horror as a live entity have quickly made a name for themselves as one of the premier live dance acts in Australia racking up performances at festivals such as Good Vibrations, Parklife (Bris), Groovin The Moo, Global Gathering, and Falls Festival as well as supporting international acts such as Friendly Fires.
In November 2008, Miami Horror released their debut EP ‘Bravado’ which featured the previous blog hit ‘Don’t Be On With Her’; soon after, the accompanying 80’s VHS Italo disco inspired clip again set the international blog world on fire
Forming in the summer of 2007, Yacht Club DJs have come a long way from their humble beginnings as resident DJs at Ballarat’s Karova Lounge. The “local-heroes” quickly gained a reputation as the saviours of the mash-up genre after a stellar performance at the Meredith Music Festival in 2008. This also saw them play at Falls Festival and The Quicksilver Pro. The duo - Gareth “Gaz” Harrison and Guy Chappell-Lawrence – have since catapulted to crowd-favourites, being praised for not sticking to the one genre, mixing party tracks with anything from cartoon theme songs to metal. Their crazy on-stage antics often resulting in nudity, people storming the stage and crowd surfing, have seen the pair sell out a string of shows across the country.
Combining smooth DJ skills with live trumpet, the man they call Timmy Trumpet has taken the Australian & world dance scene by storm! Having performed at some of the biggest venues in the world including Pacha in Ibiza & Ministry of Sound in London, Timmy has also secured residencies at super clubs Zouk in Singapore & Club Paradise in Mykonos. And Now he brings his unique sound to you at Our House!
