One of our final installments of the Warehouse Artist Diaries!

Jared de Veer answers our questions and gives us an insight into a day in the life of Jared de Veer!

Who is your musical inspiration and why?

Jeez that's a tough one, i gather a lot of inspiration from a lot of different people, ranging from local producers to the big internationals. If i had to name someone though, within Australia it would probably be Sam La More and Bass Kleph, both two incredibly grounded producers who have achieved worldwide success.

Otherwise internationally based on my sound it would probably be Fedde Le Grand,  a highly respected producer around the world who has achieved mainstream success without selling out and somehow manages to produce underground club tracks that regularly feature in the Beatport top 10.

What's your most treasured possession?

Probably my new iPad, it's like a pet but better, i can do everything with it and i can take it everywhere. It's better behaved as well, never needs to be fed, hardly ever needs to sleep, doesn’t make a mess and only barks when i tell it to. Ok, and i'll let you in on a little secret, “i occasionally snuggle it in bed”.

What are your vices?

I have to say, drinking to much....

If you could be a character in a movie, who would you be?

Will Smith in Bad Boys. Definitely the definition of “way too cool for school”!

What is your favourite instrument?

The Cowbell. So simple but can be so effective in electronic music

What’s your favourite past time?

Probably playing Fifa 11 or in the studio making or listening to music!

What music do you like to listen to from the other side of the DJ Box?

Everything and anything, i really don’t have a preference. I change depending on the mood i am in. Currently my iTunes top 25 comprises of anything from “Nicki Minaj” to “Two Door Cinema Club” to “Groove Armada”.

What would be your track of choice when serenading a woman?

Shaggy - It Wasn’t Me. Leaves a bit of confusion.

What is happening with Jared de Veer at the moment?

Spending a lot more time in the studio working on original productions and remixes. I already make a lot of edits/remixes for my sets at the moment but i am aiming to incorporate more of my original tracks into my sets in the future.

What can we expect from you at Warehouse?

You can expect music that is fun and will make you move! Every track in my set will be an edit/remix or original track from myself so you wont be able to hear it anywhere else! Look out for my new big room remix of “Hot Mess” - Chromeo and Stanton Warriors - “Get Up”
